Use Safari. It takes about two minutes.

1. Install the app

  1. Open through.monster in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow), then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  3. Open Through from its new Home Screen icon and sign in with Google or email.

2. Turn on reminders

  1. On Home, tap View everything (Home starts in Calm view, which hides the panels).
  2. Scroll to the Reminders panel and tap Turn on, then Allow.
  3. Tap Test. A notification from Through should appear.
Notifications only work when Through is opened from the Home Screen icon, not from a Safari tab. That’s an Apple rule.

Use Chrome. Everything else works on its own.

1. Install the app

  1. Open through.monster in Chrome.
  2. Tap Install when Chrome offers it, or open the โ‹ฎ menu โ†’ Add to Home screen โ†’ Install.
  3. Open Through from your Home Screen and sign in.

2. Turn on reminders

  1. On Home, tap View everything, then in the Reminders panel tap Turn on โ†’ Allow, then Test.

3. Voice, sharing and quick actions

  1. Tap to speak: long-press the Through icon and drag Speak to Through onto your Home Screen. Tap it, talk, and Through adds your task or reads your day out loud.
  2. Quick actions: the same long-press also gives Add task, Clear your mind and Focus.
  3. Share to Through: select text in any app, tap Share, choose Through. It becomes a task, with dates and times understood.
  4. Hands-free: โ€œHey Google, open Throughโ€ opens the app; then tap Speak to Through.

I don’t get notifications

Check three things: Through’s Reminders panel (Home โ†’ View everything) says Notifications on; your phone or computer allows notifications for Through (or your browser) in its system settings; and Focus or Do Not Disturb is off. On iPhone, open Through from the Home Screen icon, not Safari.

Notifications come, but without sound

The sound is controlled by your device: iPhone โ†’ Settings โ†’ Notifications โ†’ Through โ†’ Sounds. Mac โ†’ System Settings โ†’ Notifications โ†’ your browser โ†’ Play sound. While Through is open, it also plays its own alert sound, which you can choose in Reminder settings.

I still see an old version

Close Through completely and open it again, twice. It updates itself in the background on the next open.
